We offer transformative yoga for beginners, just like you

We all remember our first session. We know it’s the first step to changing your life, even if it can sometimes be a daunting one. We are here to support you. We offer true beginner yoga in all our sessions. All you need to do is show up and breathe. Do what you can, until you can do more. It’s not like a normal exercise class, where you need to do everything from the first day. It’s okay to rest and take breaks. Even showing up and doing a little, things can shift really fast!

Bikram Beginners Original Hot Yoga is a sequence of 26 postures & 2 breathing exercises, practised in a heated room. It’s taught in a way that it can be done by beginners, people with limited mobility, & people with chronic illness, but is challenging enough for athletes & experienced yoga students. You’ll find testimonials for all sorts of ailments and injuries with this style of yoga. It is a true therapeutic yoga.

Relaxing Yin Yoga is a slower meditative session, with a variety of poses on the floor designed to improve the function & mobility of the body. Sometimes slowing down and doing gentle long-hold poses is exactly what your body is craving to kickstart healing.

Yoga ShapeShifting Strength and Conditioning was designed purely for its healing benefits. A niche style of yoga created by renowned hot yoga teacher Mary Jarvis, it includes standing poses, barre work and wall work. Lauren went all the way to Nashville, Tennessee to bring it back to Yass.

Our students come in all shapes, sizes, age groups & physical conditions. There’s nothing you need to do or be to fit in here. All you need to do is show up, roll out your mat, do however little or much you can do that day, take rests as you need, and breathe. Breathing is the only thing that’s compulsory!

We’re here to support you on your yoga journey. Even if you’ve done yoga before, come try us out because our yoga is probably a bit different to the yoga you’ve experienced before.

Most people start to see real benefits in their first few sessions. It can take a few sessions to get used to the heat, but in a short time you’ll start to notice how great you feel. Our ideal student is someone in chronic pain, physical or mental, because we want to show you how this yoga can help you.

The point of yoga is not to have better postures, it’s to make your life outside the yoga room so much better. How can you make the most of your life when your back is freaking aching? Or when your body is tense from being stressed up to your eyeballs? We start with the body and the breath very precisely and specifically, and when that starts to fall into place you tend to get a lot more clarity and joy out of life.

Tips to prepare before your first session

  • Registration online beforehand is recommended.

  • Bring a yoga mat, a large towels & water. You can hire these if you need.

  • Arrive 15 minutes before your first visit so that we can welcome you. Chat to your teacher about any questions or concerns.

  • It’s best to practise yoga on an empty stomach or after some small snacks. We don’t recommend eating a large meal beforehand.

  • For hot yoga, hydration is important. It’s a good idea to drink plenty of water and have an electrolyte supplement (e.g. Hydralyte, Berocca, coconut water) or sports drink afterwards if you’re not used to sweating.
